Welcome! This is a collection of author notes.
Sri Guru
You don’t need a guru to learn the scriptures. Many may disagree, since certain scriptures do emphasize the importance of a guru.
At first glance, this may seem like a contradiction. It, however, can be reconciled as follows:
Chant —
Om Sreeng Svaha
Om Sreeng Svaha
Om Sreeng Svaha
Meaning:
- Om — the Source.
- Sri — the same Source in Sri Vidya, the tradition this website leans toward. Sreeng is the mantra form of That.
- Svaha — an offering: the surrender of the ego to the Source.
Then chant —
Sri Gurubhyo Namaha
Here, it means: “I bow to Sri, my guru.”
Now, you have accepted the Source itself as your guru. You may learn the scriptures without feeling that you are abandoning or violating tradition.
